WBB ESPANOLA, New Mexico. – Northern women’s basketball traveled to Salt Lake City, UT this past weekend to compete in Westminster College’s Classic. The Lady Eagles faced off against two NAIA Division I opponents and battled hard in two hard fought contests.

Friday afternoon, the Lady Eagles saw themselves going against Rocky Mountain College, who received honorable mention votes in the NAIA pre season top 25 national rankings. (MORE)

Women's Basketball Drops Two at Westminster

Friday afternoon, the Lady Eagles saw themselves going against Rocky Mountain College, who received honorable mention votes in the NAIA pre season top 25 national rankings. Northern dug themselves into an early hole and never could seem to get themselves out, losing 87-37. Having one of those nights, the Lady Eagles shot a poor 21.5% from the field for the game and a mere 6.3% from behind the arc. (MORE)

 

Lady Eagles Open Season With a 2-0 Start

eaglesESPANOLA, New Mexico. –Northern women’s basketball opened up their 2011-2012 season with two wins in NNMC’s 2nd Annual Santa Claran Classic, hosted at Eagle Memorial Gymnasium. The squad is currently battling numerous injuries, however, that didn’t deter them from their goal of going 2-0 in the tournament.

Northern came out strong early, on Friday, and never looked back as they beat Oglala Lakota College 84-45. As a team, they shot 39% from the field and 42% from the arc. Total, the team recorded 17 steals and out rebounded their opponent by 4.  (MORE)

Northern Women Ink Six Student-Athletes

ESPANOLA, New Mexico. – Northern women’s basketball program is excited to announce their 2011 recruiting class. Head coach, Christina Jost, stated, “We are thrilled to have these six young ladies join our program. I am confident they all will be great fits here at Northern and become strong positive advocates for our program and Northern New Mexico College in the future. This is an exciting day for Northern women’s basketball.”

The six student-athletes that will attend Northern this 2011 fall semester are: Kaeli Ballain of El Paso, TX, Chelsea Canham of Tuscon, AZ, Lavencie Cayaditto of Cuba, NM, Dorsheka Lopez of El Paso, TX, Karina Mitchell of Las Cruces, NM, and Michelle Montes of El Paso, TX. They will join 10 returners from the 2010-2011 season, 8 who hail from New Mexico, 1 from Arizona, and 1 from California.  (MORE)
