ESPANOLA, NM - Northern New Mexico College Men’s Basketball has signed their first recruit for 2012-2013. Stefan Mijalovic a 6’7” high school senior from Belgrade, Serbia has signed a letter of intent to play for the Eagles next year. Stefan, a scoring guard who can play any position, was candidate for the Serbian National Team in 2011, and was MVP of Slovania Tournament. Stefan looks to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Igor Mijalovic, who plays professionally for the MZT Skopje team in Macedonia. “We are very excited to bring another top Serbian player to the team here at Northern. His Height and basketball skills will enable him to fight for a starting spot immediately”, said head coach Ryan Cordova. Eighteen year old Stefan, averaged 19.6 pts and 6 assists during the 2011 season while playing in 1st Junior League in Belgrade. “Stefan has the ability to slash to the basket and make good decisions once he gets there”, said Cordova. “Stefan is exactly what we have been looking for; a skilled, rebounding guard that can score and pass”.
