ESPANOLA, New Mexico. – The Northern New Mexico College Women’s Basketball program has signed Sarah Romero to a National Letter of Intent for the 2010-2011 season. Romero comes to Northern from Highlands High School in Highlands, NM.

“We are extremely excited to have Sarah join our basketball family here at Northern. She is a remarkable young lady who will be a great ambassador for our women’s basketball program and NNMC,” commented head coach Christina Jost.

Romero is a 5’8” guard from Highlands High School and comes to Northern with years of basketball experience and a great passion for the game. Romero averaged 12 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, and 3 steals per game as a senior. She was awarded All-District honors her senior year.

“Sarah has a tremendous passion for the game of basketball,” commented Jost, “and we will look to her to do great things on the court as a freshman next season. Sarah is not afraid to go to the hoop strong, but also understands when to take the outside shot, as well. She has a good understanding and balance of both.”

Romero will enter NNMC as a true freshman and is intending to pursue a major in Education.
