ESPANOLA, New Mexico. – The Northern men’s and women’s basketball teams continued their trend of academic achievement in the classroom this spring. The Women’s Basketball team posted an outstanding 2.91 team Grade Point Average for the spring semester. The women’s program was led by freshman Estralla Padilla who achieved a 3.84 GPA for the spring semester.

The men’s basketball team posted an impressive 3.25 Grade Point Average for the spring semester. Five men’s basketball players achieved a GPA of 3.0 or better and one posted a nearly perfect average of 3.95.

“I’m extremely proud of the hard work all of our student-athletes put in this year both on the court and in the classroom.” I want to commend each of the fine young men and women in our program for their efforts as well as our coaches, caring faculty and advisors for their commitment to the success of our students” said Director of Athletics & Head Men’s Basketball Coach Enzley Mitchell.
