ESPANOLA,
New Mexico. - The Northern New Mexico Eagles are on the road once again, and taking on nationally ranked Valley City State University, in North Dakota. The eagles lost a barn-burner when they took on the Vikings at home in late December, and look to rebound tonight. "It was a back and forth game last time. Some poor decisions and bad calls determined the outcome of the game, but we are more composed now," said Head Coach Ryan Cordova.
The Eagles are coming off of two straight (3 point) losses to McMurray University and University of the Southwest. Still looking for their first win, the Eagles are 0-1 in conference, and could move right to the top with wins this weekend as they take on the Valley City State University and Mayville University, Saturday and Sunday. Both teams are new to Conference AII since they abandoned the Dakota Athletic Conference last year. Valley City State won the Dakota Conference in 2010 and are ranked second in the AII as well as 23rd nationally. (MORE)

ESPANOLA,
New Mexico. - The Northern New Mexico College Men’s basketball team is in full swing, and glad that November is over. The men played 15 games during the month of November and all but 4 of those were on the road. They played (3) NCAA Division 1 opponents, (4) NCAA Division II 2011 National Qualifiers, and during one road trip played 8 games in 10 days.
"This is one of the toughest pre-season schedules in the country, and you don't get any better playing teams you can beat up on," said Head Coach Ryan Cordova. "Most Division 1 schools play teams in their pre-season that they can get wins against, so they can have a good win/loss record. The only record I care about is the record at the end of the year after tournaments have been played. We are trying to get better, and do it quick," said Cordova. (MORE)
